"I BELIEVE IN PINK! I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles."— Audrey Hepburn

Every night, friends. You have done what you could. Let it go.

“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson

Global Photo Mosaic - Susan G. Komen for the Cure #fightbreastcancer

Today something very fun is happening on the internet. This something is not only fun, it is important and it is using the new social media in an exciting way. Susan G Komen for the Cure is spreading the word. They have gone viral! They are not asking for anything but to spread the word of awareness...only that. There are pictures from people all over the world that have become survivors and some who have not. People are tweeting blogging, and facebooking and anything else they can think of...and now even VNing about the fact that : "Every 69 seconds somewhere in the world a woman dies of breast cancer. #fightbreastcancer at http://69-seconds.org/!"

Not a good thing. But now we know!

Stay Pink!

Impact Make One!

Make one!!

Join me, I am the Survivor activity chair for the Maryland Race for the Cure and it would please me greatly if you could see your way clear to go to www.komenmd.org and register for the Maryland Race for the Cure.

The race/walk is being held on Sunday, October 3, 2010 in Hunt Valley MD.

I and over 30,000 of my closest friends will be there. It is truly one of the most inspirational and pinkest sights you will ever see!

Remember 75% of the money raised here in Maryland stays here in Maryland. The other 25% goes toward breast cancer research, none of that for overhead. And we here in MD are in a unique situation, because quite a bit of that 25% dedicated to research comes right back here to the research facilities located here in our state!

Need I say that our race is our biggest fundraiser each year!
So help me make a difference, and have a wonderful time while you're at it! (If you can't attend you can sleep in for the cure or donate to my page...)

Be pink for a day! Like me!

So, Happy Anniversary to us!

Hi There!

My husband and I have an anniversary coming up. It is actually a week from today, on September 24, 2010. We will be married for 22 years on that day. We got married at 11:00 in the morning because I am not very good at waiting around for things to happen. One of my less endearing qualities...perhaps a post for another time...Anyway, we will actually be on a quick road trip on our anniversary because next weekend is our first parent weekend at our daughter's school! I may have mentioned a time or two that she is a freshman in college. The thing is, the only activity we will be partaking in is the football game...but, as usual, I digress...

Back to the subject at hand, Kirke always remembers our anniversary, he always gets me a gift. Usually over the years though, it has gotten to the point that I have usually been asked what I want and he gets or orders it and that's that...He always wants a gift card...BORING! So this year, I had decided that I just wasn't going to bring it up...I figured that if he didn't ask, I wasn't going to tell and we would be traveling anyway.  We have put out a good amount of money lately for both my car and Caitlin's school and a whole host of other things so...I was going to do the grown up thing...for a change...this is not my true nature, I must admit.

Well, I have been foiled, by my husband, I must wait until next year to show my newfound maturity...Kirke came up to me the other day and casually mentioned that since we were going to be down in North Myrtle Beach for the weekend of our anniversary he figured we would go out to dinner somewhere, but as far as a gift for me, he thought maybe he would like to get me the Charleston destination bracelet. Now I have to give you readers some back ground here...This is a fantastic thing. He and Caitlin went down to visit the college over the summer and he and she came back with the South Carolina destination bracelet for me and a smaller one for her on that trip. When she and I went down for a mother/daughter vacation prior to the orientation for which Kirke then joined us, it was with instructions to buy ourselves the Myrtle Beach destination bracelet. Which we did.

Charleston SC is by far my favorite city so far. Kirke knows that that bracelet was probably a desire of mine...So where was I? Oh yes, he says, I would like to get you the Charleston destination bracelet. I am very excited about this. I explain to him that I don't think you can get it anywhere but in Charleston so maybe we can make a trip down there...it is 2 hours from NMB...He is not keen on this because it is a short visit. He says he will check. I decide to let the matter drop, another first for me, I do not pursue the matter. A few days later he tells me that I am right, the store that we got the other bracelets from does not have it and cannot get it, they say you have to go to Charleston. But, he says, he has found a store based in Charleston on line that it looks like you can order from. I tell him that I have never seen where you can order a destination bracelet on line you usually have to get them at the source, or the destination...I am wrong, this is a shock, for this never happens...Kirke orders the bracelet...now we just have to figure out how to sign for it because we both work and it is to be delivered Tuesday...sigh...

Now, I am determined that I am going to force him to let me get him a decent gift and not some cheesy gift card! I am ready for a battle. So tonight when I see that the bracelet has shipped I say to him, so what gift would you like for your anniversary? To my utter shock he says...I would like a new iPod. I need one with more gigs. I have filled mine up...I seize on this! I say go to the store and get it, no shipping! He sys no, I will not, I will do ebay or amazon. I say OK but I want you to get what you want so you go do it...So this I WILL bug him about until it is done. Then I will be happy. This year when they ask me at work...and what did Kirke get...I will be able to give a decent answer!!! I can't wait!

So Happy Anniversary to us!!

THE REUNION

Hi There,
My daughter came home this weekend for a quick visit! She drove, and 3 of her friends at school that also live in the area came with her. It was a whirlwind of a weekend and it was a blast. I had tons of work to get done but that was OK because she had tons of people to see and not too many hours to be here so...

But the picture says it all. Look at that smile! I thought that poor Lily was going to go into shock. You see she had a sister who went away and just never returned and I guess that's what she thought Caitlin had done. I had gone in the back and as I came back out and crossed the living room I caught a glimpse of her white CCU sweatshirt outside the window...she was HOME! I looked at lily and crouched and looked at the door and said Lily look! SHE"S HOME!! Caitlin came through the door and dropped her stuff and went straight for Lily...Lily dropped and slinked over with her tail down and didn't make a sound she snuggled and looked so confused..and then...she just started moaning and crying and talking to Caitlin and they could not get enough of each other...It was so sweet. Then it was my turn! Poor Kirke missed the whole thing because he ran out for milk because my girl is a big milk drinker. Well then she fell asleep leaning against me on the couch (it is a 9 hour drive) ,some things never change, me with the fan and sweating she covered in a heavy blanket in sweatshirt and pants. Then she went to see friends. Saturday afternoon she went to the HS game with a couple of friends that had also come home for the weekend and then that night we went to see CCU play TSU here in town. Then this morning she left to meet the other 3 girls and head back to South Carolina. She called around 7:30 this evening to say she had made it safe and sound. It was sad to see her leave this morning. It was very sad/hard to watch her say goodbye to Lily. As I watched her get into the car to back out of the driveway I saw her wipe away a tear. I said "she's crying" I hear my husband say, "me too"...

Stay Pink!

PS. I am told that she is giving it the college try, but there are very real and serious problems with at least one of the roommates behavior and that she does not think that she likes the college. She is going to give it the entire year. She loves her classes. She likes the campus. She is not homesick, I can see that this is true. I hope that when she is moved out of this room things will get better.

REMEMBER...

Today is a day that will live on in the history of our country for all who live here. It will mean different things for different people. I am told the that the video I am posting here was only run once so as not to allow the company to profit from it. Such a sad thing that in this day and age such a moving tribute was not able to be shown more because of such perception, but the sad truth is, that they were right. I am glad to pass it on.

I was so Wrong! But I had Help!

Hi There,
Some of you may remember my post titled  Two Faced , from a couple of weeks ago. In that particular post I mentioned that, and I quote " It seems that while I am away I am the topic of conversation and not in a good way, and then there are consequences"- While this statement still holds true, it does not, however, refer to the "Golden Girls" as I previously thought. By the way, the Golden Girls are so dubbed due to the beautiful golden color of their hair...it is naturally that color!...sigh...

I hereby offer my public apology to those two! I have already spoken to the one that I really believed was the culprit. We were able to speak of the incident today. I am very thankful for that!

Why, you might ask, did this all happen? Why in the world, would I ever think that someone that I believed to be not just a co-worker but a friend would have done this kind of thing? Let me tell you why! Because that is the direction I was led in by the person who spoke to me. As I drew my incorrect conclusion and spoke about it very candidly with her and the one that actually did the dirty deed, they did nothing to correct the assumption, and in fact did much to perpetuate said conclusion.

I was bad. They(the real guilty parties) were worse. I have apologized. they have not. But I have learned. It is over.

Now, I will move on from this. Hopefully a wiser person...

I just hope I am learning so that I don't keep making the same mistake...

Thank you for reading, I felt I owed them this!

Baby Alligator!!

I have a couple of pictures that I wanted to share so I had to think of some words to throw in and around them...so here goes!! Both pictures were sent to me via picture message from my daughter who is away at school. She is attending a beautiful school in South Carolina. The first picture is of a baby alligator. Yes, that's right, a baby alligator. It is a little hard, OK, a lot hard to make out! There is a beautiful lake on campus with a bridge over it that must be crossed to get to certain areas on campus. I remember during the tour, my husband said one of the parents joked around and asked if there were alligators in the lake...everyone laughed...

Well Caitlin sent us this picture all excited and said they have seen it a couple of times and some of them were wondering where the momma alligator was...I say good question! The kids do not swim in that body of water...

However that does bring me to the other picture that she sent to me just today via her blackberry...Yes, that is a picture of the beach! Her new school is very close to the beach, Myrtle beach to be exact! So when I sent her a BBM and asked her what she was up to today she said "beach" and I wondered to myself, why I had bothered to ask...

The other day while Earl was all over the news she sent me a BBM (blackberry message) and told me to expect a text containing a number and to let her know what the number code was. She was to type in the code and then I would be informed of any weather alerts down there whenever there were any. OH JOY! So I wondered was there an alert with Earl? I hadn't heard of it hitting SC. Caitlin told me that they just said to make sure and stay out of the water and away from the riptides...Oh, I typed, good plan. To which she typed back, "you know I don't go in the water anyway, I just lay on the beach..." oy...

Oh, next week a group of them from our area are planning to come home to see the game between CCU and the local university TSU. She will drive...I will worry...it is a long drive...first one without me...4 of them together...9 hours...

Oh and today's beach picture of the beach? My reply was...love it! she said, "oh good, we want to be as tan as we can when we come back for the game"...I just hope that between the beach and the baby alligator there is some studying going on!

Oh, and one more thing...Hubby and I already have our tickets for the game! That's where they got the idea...I don't expect we will see her more than in passing while she's here, I am bracing myself for that, and trying to prepare Dad...sigh...
