And today is a very special Pink Saturday around my neck of the woods...and that is because it is Preakness Saturday! Yes, that's right! I live not too far from where the Preakness Stakes are held and that is a very big deal!
Today is The Preakness Stakes but yesterday was a very special day also...perhaps even more special in many ways...on the day before the Preakness, The Black Eyed Susan Stakes are held...
This event is held by the Maryland Jockey Club in conjunction with Susan G Komen for the Cure.
The event is held Turf side and it is done right.
Invitations were sent to 87 Breast Cancer Survivors and they are invited to bring a guest. The rest of the attendees are friends of Komen or the Jockey club and are paid attendees. The event honors the survivors and consists of a day of races and entertainment just as the Preakness day itself does. Below is the Event Logo...
I am so in love with this logo! I saw it for the first time last year(at the inaugural event) and thought it was perfect!
There is even a flag...and of course I got a picture of it!

Nice, huh? I had to wait for the wind and snap it just right...We all wear hats and they make it a very nice event! The survivors all receive a very nice bag filled with nice things including this cool towel!

Here is a picture of a fountain...they had Pink water running in it...that is my PINK Longchamp hanging on the table behind it...

Here are a couple more pictures of the day...I will just narrate up here...The picture will be below...There is of course, a picture of some of the horses! The ones that walk out with the race horses to lead them to the gates are in PINK and so are there riders! There is a picture of a glass that the drink, The Black Eyed Susan comes in...this is the official drink of the Preakness...There is the ribbon painted on the grass...nice touch, don't you think?

2011 Pretty special isn't it?
I have to tell you that an event just like this is held the day before each of the Triple Crown Races sponsored by that city and Susan G Komen for the Cure and for the Survivors. It is open to Survivors from all over and people come from all over. I will add a few pictures from last year's survivor parade into the winners circle only because I was unable to stay for this year's parade. We left to go watch the Baltimore Orioles get
trounced by the Washington Nationals...
I will however, give you a picture of my hat and end with a picture of myself and a friend from the event this year...Enjoy!

Don't we look great in our finery!
Well, that's it for me! It was a very special event and I cannot say enough to thank the Maryland Jockey Club and Pimlico for making it as nice as it could be and to all of the men and women that worked the event yesterday...Kudos to you! You made it what it was! I know what it is like to do something like that. You make or break the event for the attendees and you made every one of us survivors feel very special.
Thank you!
So, that's all for now folks, Thanks for looking through!
