"I BELIEVE IN PINK! I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles."— Audrey Hepburn

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Every night, friends. You have done what you could. Let it go.

“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson

It's Pink Saturday! and It's a Pink Saturday Birthday!!

It's been a special year around here and that little guy is one reason why...He has been a real joy! He  dropped into our lives on the hind end of a tough loss and we weren't really ready for him, but we sure are happy to have him!

Another special thing this year...Our ED...Second from the right won an inaugural award at the annual leadership conference (Komen)
and I was there...far right...
I started this blog...who knew so many of us love pink...the first few names I tried to choose were taken...so I landed on this one...I am glad I did...Do you like my new banner?
SO anyway...it has been a fun year and a sad year and a stressful year and it isn't over yet...in other words...a pretty normal year...and more to come...Happy Birthday Pink Saturday!
Just click on the Birthday Picture above to join in the fun, and as always...

Do You Like IT???

Well, Do You? Huh?
In case, by some strange chance you really don't know what I am asking...I am talking/jabbering about my new BANNER up there!!! Isn't it beautiful?

I belong to blogfrog (see the sidebar) and Whitney over at  A Magnolia Heart Started a dialogue the other day by offering a free banner design to the first 5 people who responded...Well, I just had a title for heaven's sake and so, even though it was a day later, I counted the responses and I thought I might have a chance to get in on this...sooo...I answered her...Whitney needed some info though...info that I really had little idea how to give her and so I really did not give her all that she needed...I gave her very little to go on and then gave her my link...She had to wing it big time...I think she nailed it! Big Time! Don't you? The banner at the top is the first version...I get one revision, If I want one...what do you think? Maybe the font a little bigger? or is it perfect as it is? I can't believe she came up with this with no direction from me other than color and font...I couldn't even give her measurements...then, after she sent me the banner I uploaded it incorrectly...Whitney had to explain to me how to get it on there correctly so the transparent background did not show...sheesh...Anyway...I think she does this for a living or at least usually gets paid for these things so check her out...A Magnolia Heart..

So, Please tell me what you think of my new look!!!

It's Pink Saturday!!

And today is a very special Pink Saturday around my neck of the woods...and that is because it is Preakness Saturday! Yes, that's right! I live not too far from where the Preakness Stakes are held and that is a very big deal!

Today is The Preakness Stakes but yesterday was a very special day also...perhaps even more special in many ways...on the day before the Preakness, The Black Eyed Susan Stakes are held...

This event is held by the Maryland Jockey Club in conjunction with Susan G Komen for the Cure.
The event is held Turf side and it is done right.
Invitations were sent to 87 Breast Cancer Survivors and they are invited to bring a guest. The rest of the attendees are friends of Komen or the Jockey club and are paid attendees. The event honors the survivors and consists of a day of races and entertainment just as the Preakness day itself does. Below is the Event Logo...

I am so in love with this logo! I saw it for the first time last year(at the inaugural event) and thought it was perfect!
There is even a flag...and of course I got a picture of it!

Nice, huh? I had to wait for the wind and snap it just right...We all wear hats and they make it a very nice event! The survivors all receive a very nice bag filled with nice things including this cool towel!

Here is a picture of a fountain...they had Pink water running in it...that is my PINK Longchamp hanging on the table behind it...

Here are a couple more pictures of the day...I will just narrate up here...The picture will be below...There is of course, a picture of some of the horses! The ones that walk out with the race horses to lead them to the gates are in PINK and so are there riders! There is a picture of a glass that the drink, The Black Eyed Susan comes in...this is the official drink of the Preakness...There is the ribbon painted on the grass...nice touch, don't you think?

Pretty special isn't it?
I have to tell you that an event just like this is held the day before each of the Triple Crown Races sponsored by that city and Susan G Komen for the Cure and for the Survivors. It is open to Survivors from all over and people come from all over. I will add a few pictures from last year's survivor parade into the winners circle only because I was unable to stay for this year's parade. We left to go watch the Baltimore Orioles get
trounced by the Washington Nationals...
I will however, give you a picture of my hat and end with a picture of myself and a friend from the event this year...Enjoy!

Don't we look great in our finery!
Well, that's it for me! It was a very special event and I cannot say enough to thank the Maryland Jockey Club and Pimlico for making it as nice as it could be and to all of the men and women that worked the event yesterday...Kudos to you! You made it what it was! I know what it is like to do something like that. You make or break the event for the attendees and you made every one of us survivors feel very special.
Thank you!

So, that's all for now folks, Thanks for looking through!

Calgon, take me away...

Remember that old saying? There are days when I wish it could...sigh...some people are bent on stealing your joy. Have you noticed? Maybe I could get away to that beautiful old pink house up there...There is someone in my life that seems to take the low road whenever there is a point to be made in the professional arena...except that she takes it to a personal level in the professional arena...it bothers...and I shouldn't let it...It isn't her exactly...it just might be that she chooses a certain moment to forcefully tell me something that will effectively take the wind out of my sails, something that is guaranteed to make me feel bad about things. This person is in a position of authority and so it does matter...sigh..nothing horrible really...just not nice...just bad enough...sigh...just bad enough for me to write about it and to make me want to say this...

There...I feel better already...

PS...thanks for "listening"

It"s Pink Saturday!!

And I have to work so I am posting this on Friday night...Shhh...don't tell...I have to be up and out early...I am working with my supervisor so I'd best be on time and bright eyed...:) I am typing no thanks to blogger...sheesh...what a week for them...I lost my last post and then got it back, did not get the comments back though...It was part of a blog hop, but so much for that...no hopping going on with a blogger account for the last couple of days...lol...and I just spent the last few hours going over my email account and "cleaning" it up! I put lots of emails into folders etc...
Man that sure took a while...But enough of all that, time for some Saturday Pinkness...so..here goes!

Oh but first! Guess what we got! We are the proud new owners of a Breville single cup coffee maker! Yum! It uses the Keurig K-cups and we are lovin' life...It was a gift to the Hubby for his MANY years of service on the job!

So anyway, I hope all of you Happy Pink Saturday Ladies have a great weekend and think of me slaving away with my supervisor while you all are perusing all of the lovely pink blogs...(I just scored a minor personal victory by spelling perusing correctly on the first try...and now the second)lol...

Ah! The simple pleasures...Yes?

So Promise you will think about the fact that I was up before the Butt Crack of Dawn! lol...

It's Wednesday! and ...My Mind is Wandering...

As usual I am tired...You would think I would just head to bed instead of typing...but...well...here I am...

I think Maxine has a legitimate point here don't you? I mean, just think about it for a minute...and believe it...How many times have you walked in on a conversation and wished you hadn't...or maybe even listened quietly while co workers griped about this or that...
Perhaps you even thought that someone was talking or complaining about you or something you had done...Well maybe that is what was happening...or not...does it really matter? Can you change it? Chances are the answer is no. So if we think about what Maxine is saying here...perhaps we might be able to give ourselves a break...maybe lighten up on ourselves a little...If we don't believe everything we think, will we then believe everything we are sure that others think about us? Perhaps not, and that my friends, is a very healthy thing!
There comes a time in life when one must realize that one must live for oneself and ones friends and family...while being considerate of others of course. Never live in a narcissistic selfish way...Just be happy with yourself and be true to yourself...
OK, I will now step down from the soapbox...
Hmmm...I think I am tired...should I believe that?...I think I should...

Soooo
