Nancy Brinker addressed the crowd this morning! This is always a treat. Nancy is the founder of Susan G Komen for the Cure. Susan was Nancy's sister and she died of breast cancer at the age of 36 in 1980. Susan G Komen for the Cure was born of Nancy Brinker's promise to her sister, as she lay dying, that she would do everything within her power to eradicate breast cancer...The power of a promise, indeed...
So, here are my contributions for this week's Pink Saturday!! First, for your viewing pleasure, I have a picture of a centerpiece from one of the tables from tonight's Western Night reception...we are in the Fort Worth area after all...we always have a western night where we all dress in western apparel...here are my pink cowboy boots...
Aren't they just the the cutest things?? I have bigger ones but didn't want to pack or carry all that...
Now, I hate to leave you on a sad note but this has to be done...at the Leadership Conference each year among all of the fun and revelry and serious learning and inspiration, there is a wall, or a display if you will...this wall celebrates the lives of those we have lost over the year since we have last been together...I count one of my friends among them...That is her picture to the right. Becky was a tireless Breast Cancer Advocate and a long time survivor that was diagnosed for a second time late last year and lost her battle with breast cancer in December...We miss you Becky...This is Becky's picture on the wall...
Sobering, among the fun...On a another note...I rarely see so much pink in one place!! It a sight to behold, I cannot describe it! I love to just look around and see all of the pink things...A lot of times, I feel unique in my pinkness...not here!!
Happy Pink Saturday!!
PS! Just must tell you that a large, loud, group of excited teenage girls moved in on my floor last night...go ahead and laugh...
It's Pink Saturday...Won't you join us?
Happy Pink Saturday.....so fun to join in all the Pinkness...I pray for God to bless each one of you...giving you peace and strength...enjoy the day!

Thank you for your visit on last weeks Pink Sat. You are a blessing and I so support breast cancer cure. We have lost loved ones to breast cancer and my niece just finished chemo for her breast cancer surgery. I don't know why, I just decided to see if I missed some late visits from last week. Your pink flowers and boots are perfect for pink day.
ReplyDeleteI am so so thankful for people like you that are in the fight for breast cancer cure. Thank you from my heart.
